About Us

Soroptimist International is a global volunteer organization that provides women and girls with access to the education and training they need to achieve economic empowerment. Over 80,000 Soroptimists in more than 120 countries and territories volunteer time and contribute financial support to community–based and international projects that benefit women and girls. The name, Soroptimist, means “best for women,” and that’s what the organization strives to achieve. Soroptimists are women at their best, working to help other women to be their best. Soroptimist programs include “Dream It, Be It: Career Support for Girls” and “Live Your Dream: Education and Training Awards for Women.” Members enjoy working together to make a difference in the community and positively impacting local women and girls.

The Folsom El Dorado Hills chapter of Soroptimist International of the Americas was chartered on April 1, 2013 in Folsom, CA. Since then, we have given away over $20,000 in grant money to our Live Your Dream Award winners and assisted over 100 local youth with mentoring and training through our Dream It, Be It: Career Support for Girls program.

Other programs have included high school scholarships for at-risk or disadvantaged graduates, assistance for local students experiencing homelessness, Dress a Girl Around the World sewing drives, and many combined efforts with our neighboring Soroptimist clubs.
